Mrs. C. H. Weiss, owner of a kosher meat market in this city, was fined $25 by Judge Daniel Becker for violating provisions of Section 1851 of the Penal Law, which makes it a misdemeanor to refuse, unlawfully resist, delay and obstruct a public officer in the discharge of his duties.
Shepherd Z. Baum, newly-appointed supervisor of Kosher Meat Control of the Department of Agriculture and Markets, was the arresting officer.
This is the first known case in which Section 1851 was enforced to further the authority of a kosher food inspector.
