A heavy storm that lashed the Palestine coast made entry to Tel Aviv’s new port impossible and caused cancellation of plans for the Jewish steamer Mt. Zion. Inaugurate disembarkation of passengers. It was decided instead to hold a symbolic inaugural ceremony tomorrow, at which retiring High Commissioner Wauchope will be the guest of honor.

Tension in Jaffa over the new port led to posting of official warnings in both cities against mingling in crowds.

The High Commissioner gave a farewell party tonight, attended by a mixed crowd of Arab, Jewish and other notables, unprecedented since 1936. Sir Arthur in an address summarized the constructive achievements of his administration. In a surprise farewell speech at a concert of the Palestine Symphony Orchestra last night, Sir Arthur said the orchestra was one of the most important creations of the Jewish National Home and had contributed considerably to its upbuilding.
