One of the largest Jewish community centers in Western Europe is scheduled to be opened at Strasbourg this month. Construction was made possible through funds donated by the French Government, Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany and local Jewish contributors.
The center will house a new synagogue, a large assembly hall, meeting rooms and a kosher restaurant. Strasbourg boasts a lectureship in modern Hebrew and the language is taught in the city’s high schools.
