The famous Medici Street in Saint Germain-en-Laye, fashionable suburb of Paris, has been renamed Salomon Reinach Street in honor of the famed French Jewish archaeologist, who was born in the suburb in 1858.
Reinach, who was a member of the French Academy, was also a prominent historian in the fields of religion and art. He took a keen interest in Jewish social work and was an active member of the Alliance Israelite Universelle from 1885 until his death in Paris in 1932.
