A resolution praising the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and urging stronger support of it by all elements of the American Jewish community was adopted at the annual meeting of the American Jewish Public Relations Society. the professional association of publicists in the Jewish communal field. Nathan L. Roberts, director of publicity of the Combined Campaign for American Reform Judaism, was reelected president of the Society for a second term.
“The American Jewish Public Relations Society,” the resolution declared, “praises the services of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and urges all Jewish organizations to subscribe to its Daily Bulletin as an essential means of maintaining communication with Jewish life throughout the world and as a vital adjunct to each organization’s work.”
Eleazar Lipsky, JTA president, who was the guest speaker at the dinner, emphasized that “the JTA occupies a unique position in American and world Jewish life as Jewry’s sola international agency for the gathering and dissemination of news of special and particular interest to the Jewish community.” He termed the JTA “an essential and indispensable service in linking Jews to each other through a sharing of news of each other’s activities, plans and achievements.”
