At a meeting of the Board of Higher Education, Moses J. Stroock was unanimously elected chairman. This is the fifth time in five successive years that Mr. Stroock has been thus elected, he having been chairman ever since the Board was created by act of the Legislature in 1926. Prior to that time Mr. Stroock was for five years chairman of the Board of Trustees of the College of the City of New York; he has been an active member of these Boards for the past twenty years.
The Board of Higher Education has jurisdiction over all municipally maintained higher educational activities of this city; it is the largest collegiate organization in the United States if not in the world and has a student enrollment of nearly 60,000.
