The closing of the technical High School of Hanover was threatened by Minister of Education if the students’ demonstrations against the Jewish professor, Dr. Theodor Lessing, do not cease.
An investigation was started by the State Attorney against the students who were guilty of mistreating Professor Lessing. The case assumed new seriousness when students of the Charlottenburg Technical High School sent a telegram to the students of the Hanover institution, applauding their attempts to interfere with Professor Lessing’s lectures. The Republican papers severely criticize the students, while the Right press treats their disorder lightly and endeavors to show that the Ministry of Education is overstepping itself.
