Evidence on the persecution of Soviet Jews in the religious, cultural and economic fields was presented here at a mass meeting organized by the General Association of students and the Geneva Union of Jewish Students.
Jacques Nantet, Catholic writer and rapporteur of the League for Human Rights, and Ephraim Tari, a journalist, both from Paris, presented documents and illustrations dealing with the problems of Soviet Jewry. The speakers emphasized the systematic denial of the existence of the Jewish community in the Soviet Union.
Dr. Vladimir Halperin, director of the world ORT Union, presided over the debate that followed. Other participants were Jean Treina, president of the Council of State of Geneva, Chief Rabbi Safran, and several faculty members of Geneva University where the protest rally was held.
