Georg Beruhard editor-in-chief of the “Vossiche Zeitung” and president of the German Press Association. was the target of attacks by gas and tear (bombs) when he ascended the platform to address a German students mass meeting at Goettingen. His subject was the settlement of the reparations question.
The tumult was raised by a group of anti-Semitic students who objected both to the subject and to the speaker. The police were called and only after several arrests were made was order restored.
