Former Under-Secretary of State Sumner Welles will be the main speaker at the opening session of the Zionist Organization of America’s 50th annual convention, which will be held here from July 3 to 6, it was revealed today. Two thousand delegates are expected to attend.
The four-day parley will discuss action on the political situation affecting Palestine in the light of possible recommendations of the United Nations General Assembly session in September. It will also consider the problems of education and youth work and organizational issues.
Dr. Abba Hillel Silver will deliver the presidential address opening the conference, and James G. McDonald, former member of the Anglo-American inquiry committee on Palestine, and former Secretary of the Treasury Henry Morgenthau, Jr., will address various sessions.
