Support Offered in Move to Raise Funds for Jews Destitute in Germany

Sponsorship of the appeal the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee is now making nationally for funds with which to conduct emergency relief activities among the destitute Jews of Eastern and Central Europe has been accepted by Jewish religious, fraternal and communal bodies whose total membership includes a majority of the Jewish population of this country, Dr. Jonah B. Wise, National Fund-Raising Chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, announced yesterday.

A resolution adopted by the Synagogue Council of America endorsed the work of the Joint Distribution Committee and pledged its aid in its continuation.

Further support was offered by Ludwig Vogelstein, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.

A resolution of endorsement and support of the Joint Distribution Committee was also adopted by the Central Conference of American Rabbis of which Rabbi Morris Newfield is President. An appeal to all Jews of Polish extraction to support the Joint Distribution Committee in its drive for ###nds is being issued by the Federation ### Polish Jews in America, Z. Tygel, its Executive Director, notified Dr. Wise. ### Other organizations which have ###pted the sponsorship of the appeal ###clude the Women’s League of the ###ited Synagogue of America, the Ex###tive Board of which urges all members of the league to make every effort ### cooperate with the Joint Distribution Committee; the Women’s Branch ### the Union of Orthodox Jewish Con###gations of America; the Jewish Na###nal Workers Alliance, the United ###umanian Jews of America, the Independent Order B’rith Sholom, the Sc###ardic Brotherhood of America and ### Jewish Theatrical Guild of America.

The Bronx division of the Young peoples Leagues of the United Syna###gue of America has also adopted ###olutions supporting the Joint Distribution Committee in its fund-raising efforts.
