Detroit Jews number only 42,000 souls, according to a survey just completed by the Bureau of Jewish Social Research of New York. Until now, estimates of the number of Jews here varied from 75,000 to 100,000. The survey also reveals that 40% of the Jewish children of Detroit are receiving a Jewish education, this percentage being the second highest in the country, Detroit ranking next to Pittsburgh.
