THE NEW PALESTINE IMMIGRATION ORDINANCE PUTS ON ALL PALESTINIANS ACCUSED OF ENTERING ILLEGALLY, OR WHOSE VISAS HAVE EXPIRED, THE BURDEN OF PROVING THEIR RIGHT TO RESIDE IN THE COUNTRY, THE HOUSE OF COMMONS WAS TOLD TODAY BY COLONIAL SECRETARY WILLIAM ORMSBY-GORE, REPLYING TO A QUERY BY COL. JOSIAH WEDGWOOD, LABORITE.

THE ORDINANCE ALSO PROVIDES, THE COLONIAL SECRETARY SAID, PENALTIES FOR AIDING, ABETTING OR HARBORING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AND EMPOWERS THE HIGH COMMISSIONER TO PRESCRIBE THE MAXIMUM OF IMMIGRANTS IN SPECIFIED PERIODS AND THE NUMBER OF JEWS TO BE INCLUDED IN THAT FIGURE.
