A demand for the suspension of all foreign currency restrictions was made here today at the annual convention of the Herut party. Knesset Deputy Binyamin Avniel also called for national efforts to improve production and packaging to put Israeli industry on a competitive level with other countries on world markets.
Stressing the need to free the Israeli economy from the influence of pressure groups, Mr. Avniel also proposed the establishment of a special ministry for economic planning and coordination.
Referring to a statement yesterday by Menahem Beigin in which the party leader suggested that the Herut trade union join the Histadrut, Israel’s labor federation, Knesset Deputy Eliezer Shostak, who heads the Herut labor organization, said that he did not think such a merger would take place before the forthcoming Knesset elections.
