Protests continued to pour in today from many Jewish organizations against the action of the Purple Heart Association which on Washington’s Birthday permitted a contingent of the German Steel Helmet Association to participate in its parade while bearing Swastika banners. The Purple Heart Association is an organization of veterans who have been ### for valor or meritorious service and has many Jews in its ranks.
Five local posts of the Jewish ##ar Veterans of the United States had been invited to take part in the parade prior to the Washington Birthday Military Ball at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel here. Also invited were the German-Austrian Veterans of the World War. When the colors were being lined up, it was discovered that a unit of the German Steel Helmets had joined the parade, bearing a swastika-bedecked standard.
Representatives of the Jewish veterans protested against the Nazi banner being displayed, but ### overruled by the parade committee of the Purple Heart Association.
