One confessed 14-year-old vandal was detained in juvenile court, and others were sought today in a new outbreak of swastika smearings on synagogues, homes and schools in two San Francisco districts.
Police found six swastikas smeared on the walls of Anshe Sfard synagogue, and on five homes near the synagogue. The 14-year-old boy, whose name was withheld, was arrested and admitted he had smeared swastikas on a junior high school he attends, and on four homes and a nursery school near his home.
The boy was taken to the desecrated synagogues but denied he had ever been there. Police conceded that a comparison of the smearings admitted by the boy with those on the synagogue indicated they were done by different persons.
