The Swedish Government will contribute $14,000,000 from $104,000,000 of German assets in Sweden for rehabilitation and resettlement of non-repatriate victims of German action, as part of a four-nation accord for liquidation of the assets, the State Department announced today. The money will be turned over to the Intergovernmental Committee on Refugees. The accord was reached by the United States, France and the United Kingdom with Sweden.
Pursuant to the agreement reached at the Reparations Conference in Paris, in Dec. 1945, $25,000,000 was made available by Allied governments for use by the Inter-governmental Committee on Refugees. The Swedish contribution plus $11,000,000 to be given by the Swiss Government from German assets in Switzerland, composes the total fund.
