The Swedish radio today reported that the Commission on Aliens has advised against the admission to Sweden of 1,000 Jewish children from Poland and other European countries. An appeal for admission of the children was submitted to the Swedish Government by the Jewish Agency for Palestine and the World Jewish Congress.
The Jewish Committee in Sweden and the Refugee Committee in Stockholm, which are caring for 9,000 Jewish refugees, addressed a request to the world headquarters of the ORT in Switzerland asking for the opening of ORT workshops for the refugee Jews in Sweden. The Hechalutz organization in Sweden also has requested the opening of ORT training schools for chalutzim in this country.
