An examination of certain provisions of the Swedish law affecting the status of refugees and aliens was ordered today by King Gustav, indicating a possibility that many refugees in Sweden will be interned.
A small number of refugees have long been interned here for various reasons. The majority of the refugees, however, enjoy full freedom and the right to work under special working permits. New measures have become necessary in view of the constantly growing number of refugees entering this country from various neighboring lands, especially from Norway. Also because German deserters are crossing into Sweden in ever larger numbers.
The Fritt Folk, organ of the Quislings in Norway, which arrived here today carries a severe attack on the Swedish press for the sympathy which it displays for the people persecuted by the Nazis. “The Swedish newspapers are influenced by Jews,” the Quisling publication writes.
