Asserting that the persecution of the Jews is the most terrible of the many crimes committed by the Nazis, the newspaper Morgon Tidningen warned today that legislation against anti-Semitism is not sufficient, but must be supplemented by an active popular fight against race hatred.
It points out that anti-Semitism will not end with the defeat of the Nazis, and that sweeping away the poison of anti-Semitism after the war will take time. Referring to the proposed legislation to outlaw anti-Semitism in Sweden; it says that it is embarrassing that such measures are necessary here, but even so, they will be of small help unless the public gets behind them.
