A barter arrangement between Israel and Switzerland was made public here today. Under its terms Israel will get 17,500 tons of sugar from Switzerland in return for Israeli-manufactured textiles, tires, water pipe and cement. The Swiss will obtain the sugar from East Germany. Israel’s sugar was formerly obtained from Cuba for foreign currency.
Israel’s second shipment of clothing, blankets and medicines left here by air for Holland to aid victims of the Netherlands storms. The supplies were contributed by the Red Shield of David, Israel’s equivalent of the Red Cross.
