The Union of Swiss Jewish communities today called on all Swiss Jews to hold special services in the synagogues on June 27 to ask intercession for the remnants of European Jewry and to mourn for those millions who have already been massacred by the Nazis.
The call declared that we “remember that in the thousands of years of our history, deliverance has always been nearest when our oppressors threatened us most. We think of many other oppressors who wanted to annihilate our people, but in spite of their efforts the Jewish people survived. Therefore, we want to meet in our synagogues and thank God for the help he has granted us and to ask the Lord to send relief to our harrassed brothers.”
