Switzerland’s freedom from racial and religious Bigotry was warmly praised here today by Premier Edouard Daladier as an example for all Europe to follow. Franco-Swiss friendship was the keynote of the luncheon given by the Union of Provincial Newspapers for Walter Stucki, Berne’s Minister to Paris, and the Swiss colony.
Daladier declared: “We have only one plan in France — that your country continue to live in this harmony, that it be in the heart of Europe a living example, a moving protest against those who subordinate humanitarian principles to racial and religious hatreds, whereas the goal of modern civilizations should be to reconcile all races and religions.”
