Switzerland should always remember the lessons it learned from the controversy generated by its actions during the Holocaust, the country’s first Jewish president said Wednesday. “Switzerland isn’t some extraordinary country which managed more than any other both to look after the security of its own people and to carry out impeccable humanitarian actions,” Ruth Dreifuss told an assembly of the Swiss Confederation of Hebrew Congregations. “But it would also be wrong to say that Switzerland actively supported Nazi Germany.”
