Plans for the erection of a synagogue and center in Jerusalem will be gone over by Dr.Israel H. Levinthal, chairman of the Jerusalem synagogue and Centre Committee of the United Synagogue of America,who is enroute to Palestine on board the Conte di Savoia,it was announced yesterday.
“A modern synagogue and center is one of the greatest needs in Jerusalem today,” Dr.Levinthal is quoted as saying in a statement from the United Synagogue.” The new building will be the rallying point for all Jewish groups,both old and new,who will find this center and outlet for their religious,social and cultural life.It will be a credit to Jerusalem.”
Actual building of the synagogue and center is expected to begin shortly .$80,000 has already been allocated for the project, which is sponsored by the United Synagogue of America and the Yeshurun Congregation of Jerusalem.
