Synagogue Council of America Pledges Cooperation with Civil Defense Authorities

President-elect Rabbi Simon G. Kramer of the Synagogue Council of America today pledged all possible cooperation at a conference of religious leaders of all faiths which mapped plans for ways in which churches and synagogues will aid the Civilian Defense Administration.

The Synagogue Council delegation issued a statement pledging every possible cooperation with the civil defense authorities for disseminating knowledge of all phases of civil defense and particularly aid in the procurement of volunteers. Rabbi Kramer said the group “plans to give and create such assistance which will be for the welfare of life and property of the entire American community through religious ministration.”

Rabbi Norman Salit of Lawrence, L.I., presided at the afternoon session of the conference. Others participating were Rabbi Hirsh Freund, executive director of the Synagogue Council; Rabbi Ferdinand Isserman, St. Louis; Rabbi Josse Finkel, Newport News, Va.; Rabbi F. Goldfedder, Cincinnati; Rabbi Joseph R. Narot, Miami; Rabbi Leon Fram, Detroit; Rabbi Eli Pilchik, Newark; Rabbi Nathan Gaynote, Alexandria, Va.; Rabbi Mauricz Eisendrath, New York and others.
