The Synagogue Council of America today proclaimed Feb. 12 as Boy Scout Sabbath. It comes during Boy Scout Week, marking the 39th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. Appropriate religious services will be conducted in Synagogues and Temples during which all qualified scouts will receive the Ner Tamid Award for Reverence. To obtain a Ner Tamid Award, a scout must show that he has satisfactory knowledge of Jewish history and that he has fulfilled certain home and Synagogue observances.
