Furtherance of the principle and practice of cooperative and united action by taking steps in behalf of persecuted Jews and the establishment and defense of Jewish rights was urged in a resolution adopted at the last executive session of the Synagogue Council of America.

The resolution expressed approval of the creation of the Joint Council, comprising the American Jewish Committee, the American Jewish Congress and the Independent Order B’nai B’rith, as the first step towards “calling into being one central representative body” for the defense of Jewish rights.
