The London Federation of Synagogues, a religious body comprising Orthodox synagogues throughout the city of London, with a membership of 16,000, is vainly in search of a candidate for its chief minister.
Following the death of the late Dayan Avigdor Chaikin, the Federation has advertised in the Jewish press it all parts of the world for a suitable candidate to succeed Rabbi Chaikin. ### a meeting last night, M. H. Davis, president of the Federation, reported that all efforts made hitherto remained unsuccessful, the committee having been unable to find an applicant worthy to fill the position. He added that even after the condition that the applicant possess a knowledge of the English language was waived, the results still were no better.
The meeting decided to accept the invitation of the Board of Jewish Deputies to send ten representatives of the Federation to the Jewish Agency conference. A majority of the members of the Federation are Zionists. The delegates were instructed to use their efforts to overcome the doubts concerning the Jewish Agency and to propose such measures as would safeguard the Zionist principles.
