The peak of Mount Hermon, 9,000 feet above sea-level in occupied territory, is the site of a new synagogue that was dedicated today by Gen. Shlomo Goren, chief chaplain of Israel’s armed forces. The synagogue will serve Israeli soldiers stationed on the mountain-top which is swathed in snow most of the year. The soldiers have been provided with special Arctic uniforms to endure the peak’s bitter weather.
