A regional conference to determine a program to meet the present social emergency and the extent to which the synagogue can become the religious center for social justice has been called for January 26 and 27 at Temple Emanu-El. Sponsoring the call are the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and the Central Conference of American Rabbis.
Delegates from 405 congregations are expected to attend this conference, which is to be followed by similar meetings all over the country. Among the speakers scheduled to address the meeting are New York State Supreme Court Justice Samuel J. Harris.
Benjamin Wolf Ehrenkranz, who died in 1883, wandered about Rumania and Southern Russia reciting his poems and singing his songs in cafes.
