The synagogue in Palermo, Sicily, which was closed down after the Jewish population of the city was deported by the Fascist authorities shortly before the Allied invasion, has been reopened by American troops, the London press reports today.
Services were held there this week with an American Jewish chaplain officiating and with scores of Jewish officers and men in attendance.
