Syria is developing a serious threat on Israel’s northern border, Israel’s ambassador to the United States said. “We see them preparing in a way we’ve not seen since 1973,” Sallai Meridor said Wednesday at an Israel Project luncheon in Washington. “We hope it is not offensive, but we are not sure.” Describing the buildup of forces on the northern border, Meridor said that Israel had relayed a number of messages to Syria that it has no intention of attacking.
