The Syrian Government is not inclined to change its attitude on the complaint it lodged with the United Nations against Israel’s hydroelectric project on the Jordan River, it was indicated here today by Dr. Farid Zeineddine, Syrian representative, upon his return from consultations in Damascus.
Dr. Zeineddine was said to have assured friends here that Syria would oppose the Big Three resolution on the Israel-Syrian dispute and would make no concessions. At the United Nations his return is taken to mean that there can no longer be any excuse for further delay of Security Council meetings on this matter. The Lebanese delegate Dr. Charles Malik, who is chairman of the Security Council this month, called a meeting for January 14 and then postponed it until January 21 because of what he said was a Western request for further time to bring about agreement.
