Complaints against the absence of Jewish officials in the administration of the mandate territory of Syria, as well as the non-representation of the Jewish population in the Advisory Council were submitted to the French High Commissioner, General Weygand, by the Chief Rabbi of Syria.
In reply, General Weygand stated that the officials are appointed on their merit without discrimination of race or religion. Concerning the representation in the Advisory Council, he stated that none of the Minorities in Syria is represented.
