Syrian President Hafez Assad and Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdulilah al-Khatib discussed developments in Arab-Israeli peace negotiations in a previously unannounced visit on Sunday by the Syrian leader to Amman. A Syrian spokesman reportedly said Khatib gave a message to Assad from King Abdullah of Jordan, but did not give further details about the meeting, which came after the king’s meeting with President Clinton earlier this month.
