Israeli sources reported today that Syrian forces were about to capture a road function leading to the Lebanese port of Sidon, some 20 kilometers from the Israeli border. But the Syrians apparently have no intention of moving further south, the sources said. They also said that there has been no increase in the size of the Syrian force in Lebanon since the beginning of the month and no changes in its basic deployment. The sources dismissed reports that the Syrians entered “Fatahland” as PLO propaganda.
