Syrian diplomatic envoys in West Germany have submitted a note to the Office of Chancellor Konrad Adenauer protesting German reparations payments to Israel, it was announced here today. The note described the payments as “subsidies.”
The note will be considered along with other protests and a reply given within a few weeks, a Government spokesman said tonight. He declared that these protests would not influence payment of reparations to Israel.
The German order of Templars, which had large colonies in Palestine, including Sarona and Wilhelma, which were seized by Israel in 1948, has field with the government a statement of its claims against the Israel Government. Israel has agreed to negotiate these claims with the West German Government.
