Syrian machine guns and automatic weapons renewed their firing along the border in the Lake Huleh area last night, an Israeli military spokes-man announced today. There were no casualties among the Israelis and fire was not returned.
From the pattern of intermittent bursts, observers believe that the Syrians still expect an Israeli retaliatory thrust across the demilitarized zone. They illuminate no-man’s land with searchlights all night long and fire occasional bursts without apparently seeing targets.
