Syrian troops were observed today moving into positions opposite Israel settlements near lower Lake Tiberias which have been empty for three years.
Troops also were reported by Israeli observers busy repairing Syrian positions in the Haon-Eaniger-Tel Katzir area which has been quiet since the Syrians quit those positions in 1954.
In the first infiltration incident in the area, Syrians stole a number of irrigation tools, Israeli officials reported. Settlements along the border remained in a state of special alert in view of the possibility of Syrian provocations which were considered very possible” by Israeli officials in the area.
