“Every nation has the right to racial preservation. To Britain’s repudiation of obligation to our people we will never submit. If there is a spark of Judaism in you, it should be shown now,” read the message of Robert Szold, chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Zionist Organization of America, to the annual convention of Hadassah which is meeting here.

Yesterday’s morning session was entirely devoted to the memorandum on the program for the future of Hadassah in Palestine. The memorandum was presented by Miss Henrietta Szold, founder of Hadassah, who came from Palestine in order to be present at the convention.

“We must have the courage of our convictions,” read the message of Mrs. Betty F. Goldstein, president of the Women’s branch of the Union of Orthodox Synagogues, whose greetings to the Hadassah convention were read by Mrs. Moses Epstein at the evening session which was featured by a banquet.

Greetings were also tendered to Hadassah at the evening session by Mrs. Jessie Bienenfield, Syracuse on behalf of the Women’s League of the United Synagogue; Mrs. Henry Northan of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, and Mrs. Joseph Frank, president of the Council of Jewish Women. Rabbi Israel Efros and Rabbi Joseph Fink, both of Buffalo welcomed the Hadassah convention to the city.

That the Palestine government failed to take the most elementary precautions for maintaining law and order in the country, was asserted by Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver of Cleveland, who stated that the achievements of Jews in Palestine had been praised in lavish terms by Premier Ramsay MacDonald himself. “Not a single Arab in Palestine has been dispossessed,” stated Rabbi Silver. “Those who sold land to the Jews were amply repaid. England has issued her declaration. It cannot stand.”
