Deploring the “unspeakable degradation to which the Jews in Germany are subjected,” the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada yesterday took steps to see President Roosevelt on the situation.
Following a special meeting of the executive committee, a message was sent which stated:
“We respectfully beg you to give an audience to a committee of nationally prominent spiritual leaders of Orthodox Jewry to meet with you in Washington, at your convenience, to petition you for advice and assistance in this bitter hour of grief for Jews all over the world.”
