Talking about peace with Israel is no longer “treif” in Egypt and other Arab countries, according to Rabbi Abraham Hershberg, president of the Latin American Board of Rabbis. Hershberg, who recently returned from a visit to Iran, Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Israel, said he had private meetings with Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and the Shah of Iran, both of whom expressed the hope that a Mideast peace will be achieved.
