Representatives of Israel and the European Economic Community will meet here tomorrow to resume negotiations for a possible link between Israel and the Euromart, interrupted several months ago.
Israel had requested eight specific concessions by the EEC. These include partial suspension of customs duties on imports from Israel; modification of certain restrictive terms; abolition of restrictions by France and Italy against the quantities of imports from Israel; inclusion of Israel in the forthcoming negotiations between the EEC and the United States; and special measures regarding the import of oranges from Israel.
The EEC’s attitude toward Israel’s requests, however, is still vague. There is a possibility that members of the EEC may want to negotiate with Israel on a product-by product basis instead of through an overall agreement. In regard to including Israel in the negotiations between the EEC and the U.S.A., most of the six EEC members may favor only the adoption of a “declaration of intent” regarding Israel’s role in those talks.
