For several minutes Mrs. Tannenbaum coughed intermittently to attract her husband’s attention. However, Morris was far to engrossed in his paper to pay attention to subtle hints.
“Morris, Morris,” she finally said, softly and caressingly,. “How has business been this season?”
Morris looked up smiling, “Are you thinking of getting a new coat or do you want me to contribute to one of your societies?”
“No, Morris, I don’t need a thing. Only you promised Mother that if business was good, you would send her to Palestine for Passover. You know she has not seen her sister in twelve years.”
“You are right, Rachel, I did promise and forgot all about it. I think we can afford it.”
“But, Morris, remember, when you make reservations, you do so on a boat which has a kosher kitchen.”
“I saw a list of steamship lines running to Palestine which feature a kosher kitchen in the Jewish Daily Bulletin. Let’s drop them a line and find out about it.”
