Facing the dismal possibility that all Hebrew schools in Poland may be forced to close their doors owing to the lack of funds, the annual convention of the Tarbuth Association, Hebrew educational group, opened here today.
More than 620 delegates, representing 300 branches with an enrolled membership of 26,000, were present at the opening of the sessions.
The main question before the conference is the precarious situation of the 267 Polish Hebrew schools, which have 39,545 pupils and a staff of 1,200 teachers.
