The Hebrew-speaking “Tarbuth” high-schools of Poland have just had all their privileges taken away from them by the Polish government, according to the latest decision of the Minister of Education.

Until now these high-schools had received certain privileges only for their lower classes, but because of the good reports rendered about them recently by the government inspectors, they had expected that these privileges would be extended to their upper classes as well.

In answer to the latest order of the Minister of Education taking away even their former privileges, the directors of the “Tarbuth” schools have issued a statement in which they say:

“This order reveals a hostile attitude towards the Hebrew school system and a desire to force Jewish parents to change the Hebrew schools for Polish. These assimilationist tendencies will surely meet with energetic resistance on the part of Jewry and will not weaken the fight of the Hebrew schools for their rights”.
