A twenty-year old dream of the Jewish community here was fulfilled yesterday when the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hebrew Congregation formally opened and dedicated the new Jewish Center on North Washington Street.
Mrs. Hyman Levy, president of the women’s organization, presented a torah in memory of her son who was killed in the World War.
Among those who took part in the services were Harry Kadish, president of the congregation; Charles J. Abeles, the junior rabbi; Judge Benjamin Haas of Nyack; Rabbi Morris Koslovsky, of White Plains; Rabbi Moses Goldman, of Ossining, and Rabbi Gordon, of the Tarrytown congregation.
