Tass, the Soviet news agency, today carried a condensed version of President Anwar Sadat’s May Day speech, eliminating the passage in which he said Egypt was prepared to sacrifice one million men in battle against Israel. As of tonight, Moscow radio had not even mentioned the speech. The Tass version dropped Sadat’s attacks on Israel and his declared intention to renew warfare against Israel. But Sadat’s hard words for the US and his laudatory references to the Soviet Union were retained.
