Israel’s Ambassador to the UN took sharp issue today with UN Secretary General U Thant’s statement yesterday comparing the plight of Soviet Jews who want to emigrate from the USSR with that of “the Palestinians who have been refugees for 20 years.” Tekoah said that “there can be no comparison at all between the problem of the Soviet Jews and the question of the Palestinian refugees. Soviet Jews long to unite with their families and their people in Israel,” Tekoah states, while “the Palestinian refugees have already found refuge among their kin and kith in the Arab states.”
